Welcome

This site contains information about Child Find, the referral process, and Equitable Services geared towards educators and parents of students in private schools in DC.

Who We Are

We are the Central IEP Team at D.C. Public Schools (DCPS)! We are responsible for Child Find for parentally-placed private school and homeschool children ages 5 years 10 months through 21 years old who have a disability or are suspected of having a disability. We are here to help identify any delays or disabilities that your child may have.

What is Child Find?

The I.D.E.A. (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) is a federal law that requires DCPS to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities from ages three through twenty-one years who are residents of the District of Columbia, including children who attend a private school or a homeschool. This requirement is referred to as “Child Find.”
